If you use the movie service Popcorn Time, you should stop now. 11 people just got busted for watching a really bad movie on the streaming service.

There's one important thing you should know if you watch movies on Popcorn Time. Two simple words - It's illegal.

In Popcorn Time's FAQ section of their website, they answer the question is "Is this legal?"

Depends on where you're from, really. Once again: we're using torrents, so if you really care, you'd better google what the legal situation around this protocol is where you live.

Well assuming you live in the US and most any other place on planet Earth, yeah it's illegal thanks to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Remember Napster? This is basically the same thing with movies, and where's Napster these days? Busted, bought, and merged with Rhapsody which maybe three people use.

According to Naked Security, movie studios filed lawsuits against 11 people for watching The Cobbler with Adam Sandler on Popcorn Time. Man that sucks. If you're going to get busted for watching movies illegally, at least make it something good!

Bottom line is, stop using Popcorn Time. You may think that Popcorn Time is the only one in danger of getting busted, but you could be busted too. Is it worth it to watch a sucky Adam Sandler movie? Pay the $3.99 to rent it on iTunes or Google Play. Actually don't waste your money.
