Maine's animal rescues and humane societies help the dogs, cats, and furry friends who have found themselves without a loving home. Plenty of young, playful puppies pass through the doors at rescues and with their adorable eyes and energetic personalities, they often find families without spending much time at the shelter.

Senior dogs are a different story. Old dogs struggle to find new homes when their lives lead them to a rescue. Despite their age, these dogs still have plenty of life in them and they deserve love just like their younger buddies.

These three senior dogs are just a few of the senior pets in Maine looking for their forever homes.

Boomer the Weimaraner & Bloodhound Mix

Boomer is a sweet and loving guy who wants nothing more than to find his forever person and hang out with as much as possible. He is great with other animals, and with all people too. Boomer would so best with someone who is home a lot.

Bashful the Lab & Husky Mix

Bashful is a great companion who likes to hang out with people. She greets every person readily and kids with special joy, but then she calms right down. Bashful is smart and willful in her quiet way; she has basic obedience training but sometimes declines to even lift her head if called. Her housetraining is extremely reliable.

Forest the Walker Hound

This handsome walker hound loves attention from people. He is just as happy snuggling up with you on the couch as he is going for a walk. He would prefer to be the only pet in a household so he can have all the love and attention to himself.
