ROOFTOP FILMS: FREE!!- Spring Street Parking garage (pictured above). “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” is playing June 22nd at 8:30pm and it’s totally free. The Birds and JAWS are also featured though out Summer. A fun way to see a movie outside on a Summer night way up high. www.menskmaine.org
BUG LIGHT SUMMER MOVIE SERIES: FREE!!- Movies start after sunset with a beautiful backdrop of the city of Portland all lit up. Bring a blanket, let the kids run around and breath in deep refreshing sea air as the sun sinks into Casco Bay. It’s a lot more beautiful than sitting in a movie theater watching movie trivia before your movie. It’s also a TON cheaper…FREE! Bring a picnic and get ready to see movies like “Back to the Future’ and “frozen.” Starting July 10th it’s “Despicable Me 2.” For more info head over to: Portlandregion.com
SACO RIVER CANOE TRIP! You can canoe or kayak. It’s pretty reasonable pricing depending on how long you want to do it. Well worth the relaxing sound of the water gently slapping the side of your boat as the warm Summer sun shines on your nose. Don’t forget the SPF! Sacorivercanoe.com
LEN LIBBY’S CHOCOLATE MOOSE: FREE!! Never seen a chocolate moose before? Head over to Len Libby in Scarborough. “Lenny” the moose is 1,700 pounds of milk chocolate and definitely a sight to see for kids as well as adults. They will love seeing the pond made of white chocolate, trust me. I even heard a rumor that kids in their baseball uniforms get a free ice cream cone. Call ahead to make sure (207) 883-4897. They are open 9am-6pm. www.lenlibby.com
PLANETARIUM USM- See a star show from our galaxy and beyond! The Southworth Planetarium puts on a beautiful display which is awe inspiring and also educational in a fun way. Lean back and gaze at the heavens. If the kids have never been they will love it. From dinosaurs at dusk to a Mid Summer’s Eve at Stonehenge. usm.maine.edu/planet
