I am hanging onto summer with every fiber of my soul. The sunshine is fleeting, the warm weather is waning, and the seasonal culinary delights will soon escape us.

Okay, not that soon, but still! There's only a handful of meals left of the summertime and it's time to prioritize dining out plans accordingly. These will keep you well fed and we pull full steam ahead into late summer in Maine.

Crab Cake Croissant at SaltBox Café

Check the SaltBox Café's Facebook and Instagram for their weekend locations. You can usually find them on Portland's Eastern Promenade on Saturday and Sunday, which is also where you'll find me, elbow deep in the crab cake croissant. The mobile café takes off for other venues in the fall and winter, so don't miss your shot at the best breakfast sandwich on the Peninsula.

Ken's Seafood Lobster Roll

Raise your hand if it's mid-Summer and you haven't had a lobster roll yet. Me. I'm raising my hand. I'm holding out for a shot at Ken's lobster roll in Scarborough. It's where I had my first lobster roll ever and it's where I'll have my first this summer.

Burger at Fat Boy Drive-In

Fat Boy Drive-In in Brunswick is open for the season with it's classic drive-in menu. Pull in, turn your lights on for service, and inhale one of their cheeseburgers with onion rings.

Blueberry Pie Ice Cream at Kettle Cove Creamery

Many of Maine's most popular ice cream shops are seasonal, like Kettle Cove Creamery in Cape Elizabeth. The homemade flavors take ice cream to the next level. Blueberries are a Maine staple so Kettle Cove Creamery turned them into a Blueberry Pie flavor.

Lobster Dinner at The Lobster Shack at Two Lights

It's not summer without a lobster bake. Give the mess, struggle, and lingering lobster smell to the professionals at The Lobster Shack at Two Lights. Not only will you get a full lobster dinner without having to prepare it yourself, but you'll also have the best oceanfront view in Maine.
