Someone sent me a message today shocked to learn that the famous line from Darth Vader in The Empire Strikes Back is not what everyone thinks it is. "Luke. I am your father," was never said by Vader in the movie. So I came up with a list of five famous movie lines that you're quoting wrong.

1. The Empire Strikes Back

Wrong line: "Luke. I am your father."
Correct line: "No. I am your father."

This may be one of the most famous movie misquotes of all time. Throughout the entire movie, Darth Vader only calls Luke Skywalker by his first name once, and it's not at the moment he reveals the shocking news that he is Luke's father.

2. Dirty Harry

Wrong Line: "Do you feel lucky punk?"
Correct Line: "You've got to ask yourself one thing. Do I feel lucky? Well do ya, punk?"

In the scene where Harry Callahan has his "44 Magnum, the most powerful gun in the world," pointed at the punk on the ground, he recites one of the most famous line Clint Eastwood has ever uttered, but it doesn't go exactly how you think it does. It's one amazing scene.

3. Field of Dreams

Wrong Line: "If you build it, they will come."
Correct Line: "If you build it, he will come."

I think the confusion here is the final scene of Field of Dreams where Ray has built his baseball field and we see the headlights of cars bringing baseball fans to watch a game.

The line actually refers to one person. His father.

4. Casablanca

Wrong Line: "Play it again Sam."
Correct Line: "You played it for her, you can play it for me...if she can stand it, I can. Play it."

It's a famous line, but it's all wrong. Watch it for yourself.

5. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

Wrong Line: "Mirror, mirror on the wall. Who's the fairest of them all?"
Correct Line: "Magic mirror on the wall. Who's the fairest of them all?"

It's a minor detail, but the wicked queen calls it the magic mirror when learning that Snow White is the fairest of them all.
