I know it's happened to you. You're driving down 95, cranking the music and are so into it that when you check the speedometer your flying at 85 mph! How did that happen? You my friend are listening to a song made for speed!

Here are 5 songs that I always find myself speeding to when I'm on the highway. Your taste and speed may differ.

1. Mark Ronson - Uptown Funk ft. Bruno Mars

This one is a new addition to my speeding music library. Bruno Mars is totally channeling Moris Day and the Time on Mark Ronson's "Uptown Funk." I found myself doing 72 on 295 in Portland today listening to this in the car for the first time. If this doesn't make you move and press down harder on that gas pedal, you have no soul.

2. Journey - Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)

I've been a huge Journey fan ever since I started listening to the radio as a kid. "Separate Ways" is by no means as popular as "Don't Stop Believing" but Neal Schon's driving guitar and pounding beat are meant for speed. It's a great song and an awful video.

3Daft Punk - End Credits - Tron Legacy Soundtrack

What does it say about me that the rest of the songs in my list are from movie soundtracks? It says what you already know. I'm a geek. Who listens to movie soundtracks in the car? Geeks. I'm cool with that.

Daft Punk were the talent behind the Tron Legacy soundtrack, the sequel to the Disney film that geeks loved in the 80's. The best track is the end credits. It's a prefect blend of synth and orchestra with a driving beat that gets my lead foot going. It also sounds really great on the Tron Legacy pinball. The movie could have been better though.

4. Queen - Flash Gordon Theme

The cheesiest movie of all time may very well be 1980's Flash Gordon. It's so over the top cheese that it's actually good. The soundtrack is by Queen, and even the main theme song is full of delicious cheese. I've been known to fly down the highway saying "Dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun FLASH! Ah ah!" Oh look I'm doing 82.

5. John Williams - Superman Theme

John Williams has composed the most memorial movie scores ever. Jaws, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, E.T. The Extra Terrestrial, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter. As soon as I mention the music to those movies I bet it instantly pops into your head. The Superman Theme is one of his greatest pieces. Listening to it makes you feel like you're flying. You are. 85 in a 70.

Now you're probably wondering why I didn't include the Star Wars theme. I can honestly say I've never driven while listening to it. Seriously. It might look something like this scene from Ferris Bueller's Day Off though.
