This weekend when you are eating great food and listening to great music at the Clash Bash and BBQ, take a second to look up and see a piece of Portland History. The Clash Bash and BBQ will take place at Thompsons Point under this canopy that The Captain from WBLM is showing off.

This is one third of the original shelter and was moved to Thompsons Point after the old Union Station on St. John Street in Portland was torn down in 1961. This very same structure served as a train shed at the platform at Union Station. Men walked underneath this canopy to board trains off to serve in World War II. It has a lot of history.

The Portland Company has refurbished the structure by sandblasting and coating the steel and replacing the roof. Union Station may be gone, but The Portland Company is keeping a piece of its railroad history by restoring the old train shed and The Clash Bash and BBQ is one of the first few events to happen underneath it! Awesome.
