It wouldn't be Maine if there wasn't some sort of wildlife story in the news. But this isn't the one we were expecting. The Topsham Police Department took to Facebook to issue a "lamb-er alert" of sorts, alerting the public that there has been a sheep roaming around town for the last two weeks refusing to be caught.

The police advise anyone that seems the roaming sheep to not confront or attempt to catch it, but rather just give them a call so they can be of assistance. But it was the commenters on the post that decided there were sheep puns that needed to be made, and we can't disagree with them. Here are some of our favorites.

Fair question while still making sure to keep on topic. Pun rating high.

Excellent pun, wish we had thought of it!

It's important when you have a slow build that you bring it home with the perfect punchline. This couldn't have gone any better.

No, but seriously, if you see the sheep roaming through Topsham in the very near future, please contact the Topsham Police Department. We're certain that someone out there may be losing sheep, counting the different ways they could bring the sheep home. Bahhhhhhhhh
