Maine State Police on Friday arrested the Houtlon man they were seeking in connection to five shootings --two of them fatal -- in three different northern Maine towns.

Anthony Lord, 35, was arrested in Houlton on two counts of murder in connection with the overnight shootings in northern Maine, according to a news release from Maine State Police. The woman who was being held by Lord is safe, according to the release.

He was captured at a home at 77 North Street in Houlton.

The shootings took place in Lee, Benedicta and Silver Ridge. Five people were shot. Two of them died, according to state police.

Earlier on Friday, police had sealed off the town of Lee as they searched for Lord, who is a registered sex offender with a history of domestic abuse in Penobscot County.
