There's a lot of battles one can choose to fight on social media, but this, well this is an interesting one. A man took to local meteorologist Keith Carson's Facebook page to argue that Wednesday's record-breaking warm day, in which temperatures reached over 70 degrees in some areas of the state, was "fake news" and was made up by local meteorologists to inspire talk of global warming.

No, seriously, read that again.

Keith Carson shared the brief exchange on his Twitter feed.

Responses that followed were a combination of shock and dismay. This person couldn't possibly think that Keith Carson, or any other local meteorologist, invents high temperatures for towns in hopes that people will rush to their Facebook page to engage in a lively debate about global warming. Seems ridiculous to us.

But then again, so does arguing recorded temperature data with a meteorologist.
