The CJL Foundation was named after a local child who was diagnosed with diabetes at age 7, she is now 13 and to date not many things are done for juvenile diabetes. The New England chapter of the JDRF (Junior Diabetes Research Foundation) is hosting a benefit gala at the Italian Heritage Center in Portland on February 28th.  All money raised in Maine will stay in Maine for Maine kids affected by type 1 diabetes.

This is a semi-formal dinner to benefit JDRF. The event will include dinner and dancing. There will be a cash bar and raffles (including Downeaster tickets and heating oil!) Tickets are $35 per person.

Since its founding in 1970, JDRF has awarded more than $1.6 billion to T1D research. Approximately 80 percent of JDRF’s expenditures directly support research and research-related education. Past JDRF research efforts have helped to signifi¬cantly improve the care of people with this disease, and have expanded the critical scientific understanding of T1D. JDRF will not rest until T1D is fully conquered.
