If you're heading to a clandestine meeting at a hotel with people you don't know, you should probably be sure your gun is locked up in a secured location.

A Boston cop forgot that crucial step when he met up with two strippers at a club in Rhode Island, returned to a hotel together, then gave one of them the keys to his car to retrieve a phone charger. They also retrieved his firearm from the glove compartment and took off, according to NBC Boston.

Neish Rivera, 25, of Pawtucket, and Melissa Dacier, 22, of Providence, were arrested around 11:45 p.m. on Saturday after police tracked them down for allegedly taking the officer's firearm.

The officer, whose name has not been released, said the second woman told him she had to leave and when the first never returned, he checked his car to find his glove compartment wide open and his gun gone. The off-duty officer then called authorities to alert them about the stolen firearm.

The two suspects were later arrested and charged with felony larceny of a firearm and conspiracy. The officer was placed on leave.
