You've hit a deer while driving. Luckily you're okay, but the deer is a goner. Do you get to keep the deer?

Two separate times this past week, I've seen dead deer on the side of the road and was surprised that they hadn't been taken. According to an interview with Tim Cotton of the Bangor Police Department (the man behind the outrageously funny Facebook page), if you hit a deer, it's yours. If you don't want it, then anyone can claim it. In fact, Cotton says a lot of police departments have a list of people who would like the deer and are usually able to find someone to come and get it.

This goes for all game animals. If it can be hunted, then you can have it if you hit and kill it in a collision.

Have you ever kept a game animal that you collided with in your car?
