I don't know about you, but all I've ever heard is that your dry parched Christmas tree could go poof any minute thanks to your Christmas lights. Is that true?

It's not! According to MythBusters on the Discovery Channel - no way can it happen. In fact, they put on a very dry Christmas tree 5 times as many lights as normal and got the temperature up on that tree to 225 degrees! No fire.

The thing they warn you DO have to be careful about is overloading that outlet with too many cords. One spark from that baby, well - you could have some handsome firefighters over at your house quickly.

I know our tree is so dry if you breath around it, needles fall. But it's up for at least another week...or two. Fear not though if you want to keep it lit for another month...you should be good to go!
