Check Out The Famous Kotzschmar Organ At City Hall This Saturday
The Kotzschmar Organ was a gift to the City of Portland by Cyrus H. K. Curtis. It was the second largest organ in the world at the time it was installed in City Hall Auditorium back in 1912. It was built by the Austin Organ Company of Hartford, Connecticut.
Since 1927 the organ has gone through renovations, improvements and enlargements right up to present day.
This Saturday you can enjoy the sights and sounds of the organ from 10 to 4 and take a free guided tour at noon and again at 4 and get up close and personal with the famous organ at Merrill Auditorium even going behind the stage to see a view you may have never seen before as local organists will be playing all day long for 20 minutes at a time.
The whole event is free to the public and no reservations are required, donations are appreciated.
