The Kotzschmar Organ was a gift to the City of Portland by Cyrus H. K. Curtis. It was the second largest organ in the world at the time it was installed in City Hall Auditorium back in 1912. It was built by the Austin Organ Company of Hartford, Connecticut.

Since 1927 the organ has gone through renovations, improvements and enlargements right up to present day.
