The death outside our One City Center studios on Sunday morning has been ruled a homicide by the Portland Police Department. Dead is Sunao Thomas Yamada. Yamada was found on the Temple street side of our building early Sunday morning.

According to the PPD:

The Medical Examiner has determined that Mr. Yamada was the victim of a homicide. Police are not releasing the cause of death at this time.

Mr. Yamada was homeless and would often spend his days and nights in the area of Temple Street and Monument Square. It is believed that he was killed around 3:20 AM. Around that time he was seen with a white male, 25-30 years old, 6’-00”, thin build with short dark hair.

Police are asking for anyone that has information that might help to share it. Including anyone that might have surveillance cameras that capture Monument Square, Temple Street, Free Street, and Middle Street to call the Portland Police Department at (207) 874-8575.
