Movoto, a real estate website, took the latest FBI crime data and put together the 10 most dangerous places in Maine. Maine still comes in as one of the safest states compared to the rest of the country, but we do have our fair share of crime. That being said, Maine has the least amount of violent crime per capita than any other state.

A violent crime by the way, is like assault, robbery and rape. Property crimes would be more like someone breaking into your car.

The website looked at any Maine city and town with at least 5,000 people. Then they calculated how many murders, other violent crimes, property crimes and overall total crimes happened in each place per person.

Here are the top 10 most dangerous cities in Maine (Skowhegan is technically a town)

1. Augusta
2. Biddeford
3. Bangor
4. Waterville
5. Skowhegan
6. Portland
7. Sanford
8. Auburn
9. South Portland
10. Lewiston

I wonder what LePage thinks of this. His own backyard is the most dangerous place in Maine. And look at that - Auburn as more crime per capita than Lewiston? I never would have guessed.

Get a complete breakdown and details of how they came up with this list.
