For three decades, the Dry Dock Restaurant Tavern has occupied prime real estate on Portland's waterfront. With a deck that overlooked a portion of the ocean, the Dry Dock had been an essential stop for tourists and locals during Portland's busiest months. But times are clearly changing, as some of the city's longest tenured businesses are closing up shop and that appears to be the same fate for the Dry Dock.

The question most people will ask is, why? We attempted to contact the business via the telephone but the line has been disconnected. Their Google business listing states the restaurant is permanently closed. Their Facebook page is still listed, with a review as recent as September 4th, but the posting element has been disabled.

This is another instance of a Portland staple shutting their doors abruptly. Just a couple months back, Portlanders were stunning when Three Dollar Dewey's posted a sign in their door telling customers that were done. Some locals still can't believe it.
