Federal Spice Has Closed Its Doors for Good, for Now

Federal Spice, the little, unassuming authentic Jamaican place on Federal Street in Portland hasn't re-opened since Christmas and according to a sign on their door, they won't be. At least not at their current location. I found this out yesterday when I went to get my Black Bean and Mango Quesadilla.

The sign reads, "The Federal Spice team would like to sincerely thank all our customers for their support and patronage over the years and wish you well."

The sign states that owner Eric Martin says they were forced to close because they were unable to reach an amicable lease renewal.

There is no word on whether Eric and crew are looking for a different location to re-open.
