Find Amazing Vintage Photos of Your House from the 1920s

It's fascinating to research the history of the houses and buildings in Maine, especially those that I've called home myself. Who lived here? What did the place look like before vinyl siding and replacement windows? How has the home changed in the last 80 years? MaineMemory.net, an extension of the Maine Historical Society, has built an impressive archive of tax records from the 1920s including original photographs of the homes at the time of survey. With the help of some school kids, this archive is digitized and available to the public online.

Searching is easy -- Just enter the street name and number in the field. The name of the street and the number of the house may have changed since 1924, so you may have to try just the street name or leave off the Street/Avenue/Lane marker.
