A 16-year-old girl from Texas was swimming with her parents in Nantucket last week, when they got caught on a rip tide. What saved them? Their selfie stick! So of course it was all caught on camera.

Erynn Johns was swimming with her parents when she got caught in the rip tide, so her dad acted quickly and grabbed the other end of the selfie stick to keep her from floating away. However, the tide was so strong though that it continued to pull them out to sea as they struggled to swim.

Someone spotted them struggling and was able to pull Erynn in and then went back with lifeguards to rescue her parents.  They were checked out at the hospital and they're all okay.

This has to be the first time someone has had their lives saved by a selfie stick, unless someone beat an attacker over the head with one that I haven't heard about.
