Maine is known for lobster, but if we keep this up - we're gonna be known for this. And it's weird...very weird.

Maine kicks butt in producing seaweed. Seaweed!

We produced 17 million pounds of seaweed in 2014. That's over four times more than in 2004. That makes us number one in the entire country!

What do you use seaweed for? Well, it's (rockweed - the most common seaweed in Maine) used as fertilizer, soil conditioner and mixed for nutrients in animal feed.

But, more and more of us are starting to eat this stuff! It's got a lot of nutrients. Of course, it does taste like seaweed....

How popular is the stuff? This one snuck by me, but there is a seaweed festival! This past summer, over 3,000 seaweed lovers met in South Portland for the second annual Maine Seaweed Festival. That's double from last year!

I'll eat just about anything...but, I'm not sure I can have this unless it's wrapped around rice with some sort of seafood in the middle.
