The job of a crew member on the flight deck of a United States aircraft carrier has one of the most dangers jobs in the world. This helmet cam worn by a member of a flight deck crew shows first-hand how launching jets of the slippery deck of a moving ship with very little room is a job we take for granted.

Launching and landing a jet off a short runway on a moving ship is a precision task that requires a skilled crew who is not afraid of the dangers involved. The video above from FlightDeckLife shows how crew members of the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower have to be aware of everything around them.

The video is from the perspective of the Catapult Centerdeck operator who works with the Catapult Officer in a location on deck that sends the wing of a launched plane just over their heads. The men and women are total professionals and work together like the gears in a precision time piece.

Here's another video showing the Deckage Officer pressing the button to launch a jet, and ducking slightly as the wing passes over his head.

Amazing!
