If Portland ever needed a song about it, Tim McGraw's "Portland, Maine" is not it and I'm afraid that people aren't going to realize that.

Tim McGraw's latest album is called Sundown Heaven Town and it includes a song called "Portland, Maine" and it's a break up song. Great. The song has nothing to do with Portland. It just happens to be where the girl in the song is moving to when she decides to leave the man she's with. It goes a little something like this:

"Portland, Maine, I don’t know where that is
Leave your bags in the car, keep it running
I won’t pretend, I don’t want these things
But Portland,Maine, I don’t know where that is
I don’t want to know, I don’t want to know"

I totally see someone shooting some great video showing all the sites of Portland and putting this song behind it. Not the best ringing endorsement for our fair city.

It makes me wonder why McGraw picked Portland. Did he throw a dart at a map? No that can't be right. He'd know where it was then.

Here's the song.

Do you like the song or hate it or just don't care. (There's always at least ONE person who doesn't care.) Is this a good or bad thing for Portland? Let us know in the comments below or on Facebook and Twitter using the hashtag #TimMcGrawPortland
