I've been to Idaho a lot this past year. Every time I go I find something interesting - and something to make me grateful I live in Maine.

I went out this last time to Idaho to get my dad through a rough patch. October 1st would have been his 60th wedding anniversary with my mom who passed away at the end of July.

He's a broken man who was VERY concerned about getting through that day. I told him I would help him through it - I'm very glad I went...

Now, some highlight about this trip to Idaho. First off, at the airport they brag about their potatoes like crazy. But I'm not sure I'm into the slogan 'Don't forget to pick up the right bag.' Seems icky.

I got in late (per usual) and thought this was hysterical.

You can stare all you want - they still won't open!

I had a couple of stops on my way to Idaho. Detroit and Minneapolis. I had a 3 hour layover in Detroit and thank God! Otherwise I would not have been able to stare at this fountain! It was mesmerizing!

But my favorite part of my visit was seeing my 'g' horse. Last time I was here (when Mom passed..) I saw a horse with a 'g' on it's side! It was wild. When I went to take a picture of him - he was gone. Dad and my brother looked for him after I went home...and couldn't find him.

And then...there he was!

Isn't he (she I have no clue) neat? I just love the 'g' on the side of this sweet horse. And 100% natural!

I love visiting Idaho for a couple of reasons. It makes me really appreciate Maine and it makes me feel a little like a cowboy.

It was an emotionally hard trip. The first time I had come back since mom passed. I miss her - and dad...well, I'm truly just trying to get him on his feet. He has been alone with only his thoughts and memories and they are painful, so painful right now.

He is alone and stuck. He can't quite wrap his head around moving to Maine - and I don't want him doing something too soon. I am a firm believer in everything for a reason.

So for now, he's in Idaho and I'm in Maine and I have to try and hold him up 3,000 miles away...
