I always hold doors for people. Man, woman, child, it doesn't matter. If I'm first, I'll hold the door for the person behind me to go through. The woman I held it for yesterday makes me wonder why I bother.

I was walking out of Dunkin' Donuts this weekend with my bacon egg and cheese and my girlfriend had her coffee. A young woman was right behind us as we headed out the set of double doors.

I held the first door and my girlfriend held the second for her. Without even an nod or smile, much less a thank you, she walked right through both doors like nothing was even there and no one was around her.

I said you're welcome as she walked past me. My girlfriend Michele, who gets even more annoyed than I do in this situation, said in a louder voice as she crossed the parking lot, "You're welcome!" Still nothing.

I couldn't believe it. She walked right though without saying a word or even acknowledging that we were there. Who doesn't say thank you when you hold the door for someone?

We got in the car and had to laugh about it as we watched her walk away, but it still really got under our skin.

Have you ever held a door or extended another courtesy to someone and not even gotten a thank you for it? Does it offend you? Let us know you're experiences with this kind of rudeness in the comments below or on Facebook and Twitter @Q979.
