We've been playing The Weeknd's Starboy for a few years now, but it wasn't until today that I really listened to the lyrics and found a big mistake in them.

The lyrics are pretty confusing as is and seem pretty nonsensical, but even not knowing what The Weeknd is singing, it's still a good song. When we played it this morning on The Q Morning Show, I heard what I thought was a reference to Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, hands down the best Star Trek movie ever made. I've watched it a bazillion times.

The lyric goes like this:

Bought mama a crib and a brand new wagon
Now she hit the grocery shop looking lavish
Star Trek roof in that Wrath of Khan

What? I don't quite follow the roof reference, but that isn't even the issue. If you listen to the song, conveniently cued up here for you in the video, The Weeknd doesn't say Wrath of Khan, he says WRAITH of Khan.

So, I have two theories here.

1. He just totally screwed the title of the movie up

2. He's making a play on words and is singing about the car she's driving, a Rolls Royce Wraith.

Please tell me it's the second, because we Star Trek geeks take The Wrath of Khan very seriously.
