When I announced I was going to be running in the Insane Inflatable 5K I could almost hear the gasps on the other side of the radio. I did it though and lived to tell the tale.

Before getting my start on Saturday I had to do some business by climbing to the top of the start line which is a big, bouncy house ladder with a slide on the other end. I made some announcements to the crowd and said I'd be running with them in this heat. The host of the event was up there with me and told everyone that I was winded just climbing to the top. He was right.

I got off to a decent start, running at a slow but steady pace. I got through the first obstacle, the mattress run, and all the way to the second obstacle which I noticed people were having trouble getting into it. Here's what it looks like.

The struggle I saw people having was getting between the two horizontal inflatable tubes to get into this. So I decided to get a running start. It worked, but I went right between the tubes and landed flat on the ground inside. Now I had to quickly get up before someone else did the same and landed on me. I made it, but what a surprise that was.

The next obstacle I never heard the end of. It's called 'jump around' and it's the jumping that caused my problem.

This obstacle is a blast, but the problem is when you bounce, someone else nearby could go flying in the air. That's exactly what happened to the poor girl ahead of me. I bounced, she went in the air and landed and that sent me in the air landing on top of her. "Hey how you doing. Thanks for listening." For the rest of the run her younger sister kept saying "There he is! The guy who landed on my sister." Oops.

Kylie gave me a Go Pro and the collision was caught all on video.

A lot of people walked the Insane Inflatable 5K, and that's cool. There were a few regular runners with their expensive running clothes and Fit Bits, but a lot of people were in it for the fun like me. I did run about a third of the course though.

Do I hurt? Yep. A lot. I found muscles in my body I didn't know existed. Would I do it again. Absolutely. It's insane. See you next year.
