To me this is Idaho. A camper in the background, a beatup front yard and a road sign that says Tumbleweed. This trip to help Mom and Dad as they age and fight the diseases slowly taking over, was a trip down memory lane for me. It was very sentimental.

It started when I said I would vacuum to help out.

Look at this relic! Mom and Dad have had this thing for decades! I remember using it at the advertising agency they used to own...about 30 years ago!

Then I went to grab a pair of scissors and found them in this!

I made that!! I made it in the 7th grade! I had no idea they kept that thing! I made that over 35 years ago! It made me smile that they not only kept it, but they use it to hold their scissors.

This trip I really tried to help my parents as much as I could. They need a lot of help these days. So I cooked my buns off to try and make it so they could just reach in the freezer and grab something and warm it up. We made a giant batch of spaghetti sauce and I made 45 spanikopita triangles!

Then I made a butt load of fried chicken cutlets. Very versatile AND delicious.

It was while I was cooking that I found all sorts of neat things that sparked all sorts of memories growing up. My parents aren't pack rats, but they hang onto things if they aren't broken and they use them until they do break. That's when I ran into these bowls:

These bowls are a huge part of growing up and cooking. We used them all the time. To me, they were just bowls with a weird design...but over the years as they have hung on (chips and all) every time I see them, it makes me love them even more. Then I found out (somehow didn't know this or had forgotten) they were a wedding gift for my parents...from

1955!

These bowls are almost 60 years old! I told mom, I didn't care about getting stuff when they leave this earth - but I want those bowls. I will use them every day and I will think of my parents fondly...
