I am terrified of heights. I'm sweating at the thought of being on a high-story balcony, in the nose bleed seats at a massive arena, or even looking out the window of an tall building. So it makes perfect sense that I agreed to rappel off the side of One City Center, one of the tallest buildings in Portland, to support a cause that I believe in.

I'm on a mission to say yes to things that I would normally say no to and facing my fear of heights is one of them. Luckily, there will be professionals by my side (and on the ground below me) to ensure I'm safe and secure.

On the morning of Saturday, May 14th, I'll climb to the roof of the building where Q97.9 is located, step into a harness and lower myself over the side of the building down 180-feet to a crowd of spectators. Yes, I'm sure there will be a camera strapped to my head to capture my face as a gently weep through the entire experience.

My rappel supports Rippleffect. Rippleffect works with youth organizations to get kids involved in leadership programs in Maine. It’s all about leadership, healthy lifestyles, and sustainable living — three things I strongly believe in.

So, if you would like to see me fall to my death face my fear and support Ripplleffect, all the details can be found at the Rappel for Rippleffect website. While you're there, and you're feeling philanthropic, there's also a link to donate. Thank you!
