You can't trust everything you see on the internet, but I really want to trust this! Is this a shot of the Millennium Falcon from the upcoming teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens?

I'm going to say no, but it is really cool!

Whoever put it together did a fantastic job though. What makes it seem authentic is that there is a rectangular sensor dish.

You'll remember in Return of the Jedi, Lando Calrissian piloted the Falcon with Nein Numb during the attack on the second Death Star while Han Solo and Chewbacca led the team to the moon of Endor to disable the Death Star's shield generator. Before taking it Han asked Lando to promise to bring it back without a scratch. Lando failed when things got tight inside the Death Star and he lost the round, sensor dish on top of the ship. I know. It's crazy I remember these movies in this detail. Geek.

It has been confirmed that the Millennium Faclon will be in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, set 30 years after Return of the Jedi and this photo of the production from 20 Minutos shows the Falcon being built with a new dish to replace the one Lando lost. This one looks identical to the one in the animated GIF. If it's fake, that's good attention to detail!

It also looks like the blaster turret on top of the ship got an upgrade. That thing looks like it's spinning around crazy fast!

The biggest reason I think it might be a fake is it has The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams signature lens flares that Star Trek fans hated so much. The original Star Wars movies didn't have lens flare and J.J. is trying to respect the original trilogy as much as possible to the point of creating practical sets rather than all CGI. I don't think he's going to be going the lens flare route. At least I hope not!

The rumor is a teaser trailer for The Force Awakens is coming soon, possibly as early as this Thanksgiving weekend!  The movie won't open until December 18, 2015. It's going to be a long year for me!
