Movie Mom is so excited about the Oscars on Sunday! It's her Super Bowl. But, because of the Oscars, the new movies out this weekend aren't all that great.

We'll start with the feel good movie of the week, 'Eddie the Eagle'. Based on a real athlete who was not an athlete at all, but wanted to go to the Olympics. The story of Eddie Edwards, the British underdog ski jumper who charmed the world at the 1988 Winter Olympics. Movie Mom says it will make you feel good, even if you don't want to!

Then there is an incredibly 'dumb' movie called 'Gods of Egypt'. Movie Mom says that it is absolutely ridiculous! There's some good action, and special effects - but there's also terrible special effects. And Movie Mom took issue with the fact that a movie named 'Gods of Egypt' had no Egyptian actors. Not one.

Then there is a movie that sounds great with an amazing cast, 'Triple 9'. The cast is great:  Casey Affleck, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Anthony Mackie and Kate Winslet. The plot is typical. A gang of criminals and corrupt cops plan the murder of a police officer in order to pull off their biggest heist yet across town. Movie Mom says it falls way short.

Back to the Oscars. Her prediction is that 'The Big Short' will take home best picture. But she also says that probably the sure bet is 'Spotlight'. If you haven't seen it, you're in luck! It's out on video this week!
