Joey Slusher is a senior at York High School and has made the decision to go to Washington, D.C. for the 'March For Our Lives'...

We decided to follow Joey's journey to D.C.

According to the March For Our Lives website:

The March For Our Lives is March 24. Kids and families of March For Our Lives will take to the streets of Washington DC to demand that their lives and safety become a priority and that we end gun violence and mass shootings in our schools today.

Joey is making this trip on his own. It's important. And he's putting his activism to good use and has created SAFER: Students Advocating for Firearm and Emergency Reform.

A lot of the criticism of the School Walk Out that happened on the one month anniversary of the school shooting in Florida, was that kids just wanted to 'skip class'.

We asked Joey about this. Skipping class is almost an insult for a lot of these kids. The shooting in Florida where 17 people were gunned down, was the final straw. And thanks to the voices in Florida...they sparked passionate, committed and resilient kid's voices throughout the country - including Maine.

We wish Joey the best as he goes to DC...not to skip class, but to follow his passion and see real gun law reform.
