Labor Day View From The Top of Hawk Mountain in Waterford [VIDEO/PHOTOS]

I'm not a crazy outdoors person, but even this view is breathtaking to me. My girlfriend and I walked up Hawk Mountain in Waterford today. I say walk, because it's really not a hike. It's a steep walk up a road that sometimes gets a little rocky. You couldn't drive a car up it, but a good 4WD off-road vehicle could make it up without a problem.

The view when you get to the top is just amazing. You can see Crystal Lake, Long Lake, Sebago Lake and Bear Pond all from the top along with several mountains including Mount Washington to the west on a non-hazy day.

When we were up at the top it was quite too. I mean REALLY quiet. No sound of cars, people, dogs, not even birds. We could just barely hear the distance hum of boats on the lakes.

If you get the chance it's worth a trip out to Waterford to take walk to the top. Just remember to clean up after yourself. The visitors before us were kind enough to leave behind their broken beer bottles. Why can't we just have nice things?
