January is always a little slow at the theater, but there is that new movie 'The Revenant' with Leonardo DiCaprio. Movie Mom says, amazing - and very, very violent.

Movie Mom says it was shot up in Canada with only available light. Which means they could only film about 45 minutes a day! And only the bear is CGI...the rest is all real. It's based on a true story and violent...very, very violent. Rated R.

Then there is a quirky film, made by the master of quirk, Charlie Kaufman (Being John Malkovich, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Adaptation). It's called  'Anonilisa'.  It's stop action animation with puppets. But please, this is NOT a kids movie. In fact, Movie Mom says - some grown ups aren't gonna dig it. She loved it and was blown away at the incredibly realistic 'sex' scenes!

That's in for in theaters. DVDs out this week include, 'The Walk' and 'Infinitely Polar Bear'. Both based on true stories!
