Patrick Hapworth is super human. He claimed first place in a Ninja Warrior competition, he holds the official World Record for most burpee backflips in one minute (it's 16, by the way) and he studied athletic training at the University of Maine in Orono.

Now, he can also say he's done 500 backflips. I witnessed all 500 of those backflips yesterday at World Gym on Marginal Way where Pat is a trainer.

This 500 backflip goal was inspired by a Facebook post. Pat said, "I saw some friends using Facebook likes to set their New Year's Resolutions. For every like, they'd do five pushups or something. I decided to do a backflip for every like I got in 24-hours."

He wasn't anticipating to reach the 500 mark. Pat expected to do 100 backflips, maybe a little more, but not 500.

"I've probably only done about 30 at once, but I know I can do this. I'm gonna go for it."

With that, a little motivation from a few friends and co-workers cycling in and out of the 2 and a half hour process, and a fresh mashed potato-bacon-scallion pizza from Otto waiting at the finish line, Pat began his marathon of backflips.

I've been doing flips for a long time. It's really all muscle memory. When I do a backflip, I don't even think about what could go wrong, I just do it.

Here's the full video, including an interview with Patrick at the start, during the challenge, and after completing all 500. Congratulations, Patrick! You're an inspiration.
