After spending more than 22 years bouncing around Portland, Granny's Burrito's is finally ready to retire for good.

If you've never been, there's at least a good chance you've heard of Granny's Burritos in Portland. Rarely do food stands like Granny's reach "iconic" status, but in a lot of ways that's been true for the burrito slinger. But as Portland continues to transform and and as competition gets stiffer, even Granny's has to retire.

According to the Portland Press Herald, Granny's, which is located in the Portland Public Market House, will close officially on Monday after being in business since 1995. Chris Godin, who owns Granny's, posted this on their Facebook page a couple weeks ago:

Granny's has had several places to call home over the course of nearly 22 years in business. It once called Market St home, followed by a move to Exchange St, then on to Fore St and a brief stint on Congress St. It finally settled in to the Portland Public Market House in Monument Square. The nomadic history of Granny's only added to its legend for some.

The closing of Granny's continues a trend of longtime Portland restaurants closing as newer competition in the city pushes the bar higher.
