The new licence plates will help identify EMS workers who have responded to a call in their personal vehicles to avoid being towed.

Secretary of State Matt Dunlap said “We are pleased to offer this new EMS plate alongside our firefighter license plate, to help identify and acknowledge these first responders who provide life-saving help when emergencies arise.”

The plates can be purchased at all Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicle Branch Offices. The plates are not available in your town office or by mailing a copy of your registration, a completed Emergency Medical Services Plates Application, and a check for $5.00 made payable to the Secretary of State to: Bureau of Motor Vehicles, Specialty Plate Clerk, 29 State House Station, Augusta, Maine 04333.
