John Chipman from Birch Harbor says this eagle actually seemed happy to see him and just wanted out of the water.

John, a lobsterman was about 15 miles off the shore of Schoodic Island when he couldn't believe he was watching an eagle struggle in the water.

He and two other people on board made a makeshift raft from a life preserver, plywood and some rope. The eagle got on the raft (on his own) and they were able to get him onto the boat.

John said the eagle looked like an older bird with an eye missing. His plan was to bring it to game wardens. Nope.

Once the eagle dried off, it flew away.

Well done John. That old bird is lucky to have met you.
