Do you go turkey hunting? Gobble, Gobble....

According to the Bangor Daily News the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife this year is encouraging hunters to take down more turkeys this hunting season. The season officially starts Saturday 4/28 with Youth Turkey Day. Then, Monday 4/30 all hunters are allowed to go. For years, hunters have had to cross their fingers to get a permit to hunt via lottery. Officials are changing their tone now because too many dang turkeys be runnin' around Maine. Biologists studied the breeding and nesting habits of Maine wild turkeys and it shows 2 good years of this has more turkeys on the loose. Brad Allen for the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife said in the article quote:

Our hunt plan for the restoration period was a very conservative one. In the very beginning we used to control the number of hunters.” “Then we realized we’d been too conservative there … We want more people hunting, and we want more birds shot.”
