Opa! Ready for some amazing food and unique Greek pastries and other delicious homemade delicacies just in time for the holidays!

One thing Greeks know, is how to cook and bake! This Saturday from 9 am - 3 pm come to the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church 186 Bradley Street (Rte 5) in Saco. You can buy all sorts of pastries from the

Lunch will be served from 11 am - 2 pm. On the menu:

  • Spanakopia (spinach and feta cheese layered in filo)
  • Pasititsio (a Greek lasagna - only better!)
  • Roasted Greek-style chicken
  • Gyros (a sandwich of spiced meat strips with tomatoes, onions and tsatziki sauce on Greek pita bread!)

Here are the pastries available:

  • Galataboureko (delicate custard filling wrapped in filo, topped with syrup)
  • Kourambiethese (rich shortbread cookie, dusted with powdered sugar)
  • Finikia (walnut cookie dipped in honey syrup)
  • Karithopita (Greek honey cake)
  • Thiples (thin curls of fried dough tipped in honey, cinnamon and sugar)
  • Koulourakia (crisp twisted butter cookies sprinkled with sesame seeds)
  • Paxemathia (a Greek walnut & cinnamon biscotti cookie)
