This Saturday is National Bagel Day and for Mr. Bagel on Forest Avenue in Portand...it's personal.

Mr. Bagel was founded by Rick Hartglass, who ran the Forest Avenue location. Rick passed away in 2010 of skin cancer.

His daughter Jane and son-in-law Joel, have been running the store since his death. Here's where the community of Mainers helping Mainers comes in.

Jeff Peterson from WGME CBS13 is good friends with the family.

You may know Jeff from doing the news on the Q daily, and of course from WGME CBS13. He came up with an idea to have celebrities serve bagels and then give part of the proceeds from the day to skin cancer/melanoma research.

He asked if I would help. How can I saw no to being surrounded by bagels and helping those fighting cancer?

So...let me serve you on Saturday morning from 9 am to 11 am!  Jeff is a good guy, and I am happy to help this family that has been in Maine for decades! See you at the Forest Avenue Mr. Bagel on Saturday!
