NBC Nightly News was in Maine recently for a story on the future of Maine's lobster industry as the ocean temperatures rise.

Chief Environmental Affairs correspondent for NBC News Anne Thompson was here in Maine during the warmer weather to cover a story for Nightly News about how the lobster industry in Maine is booming right now thanks to a 2 degree rise in Maine's ocean water temperature since 1990. That has the lobster population off our coast to boom as they have found the "sweet spot." However, with ocean temperatures predicted to rise another 2 degrees by 2050, the "sweet spot" would move farther north to Canada.

Thompson and her camera crew stopped by the Clam Shack in Kennebunk for some shots, went out on a lobster boat in the gulf of Maine, and spoke with the Gulf of Maine Research institute off Commercial Street in Portland about what the long term effects of global warming could have on Maine's $1 billion lobster industry.
