Much like coffee houses in Portland, you can never have too many choices when it comes to Pizza. I'm sure you have a local favorite pizza place but if you're like me, you're willing to give all pizza places a try at least once. So maybe you've already made the rounds in Portland since it seems like we haven't had any new pizza places popping up recently. Until now. A New York pizza place posted this little teaser on their Instagram account the other day.

Yes, a New York pizza business is getting ready to open shop in Portland soon. Coals Grilled Pizza has leased the building across the street from Bayside Bowl, 114 Preble Street where they plan to open their first location outside of New York. Yep, grilled pizzas. Their website says grilling the hand stretched pizzas give them a crust that’s crisp yet tender. The location at 114 Preble hasn't been used as a restaurant since 2014 when Portland & Rochester closed.

Coals started in 2004 in the Bronx as the first and only grilled pizza restaurant in New York. In 2012 they expanded to Port Chester and haven't looked back since.

Their menu includes grilled pizzas, burgers, appetizers such as wings-classic buffalo or maple rosemary, salads, and of course sweets like warm chocolate cake, or even a Nutella pizza which I am really, really looking forward to trying. They also have an extensive beer list.

There is no word yet on an opening date, but we'll keep you posted!
