If there's any time parents take the most pictures of their children, it has to be their first Christmas. My mom was no different than most in that regard. I went looking though an old photo album to find some of the pictures that were taken of me in December of 1971, my first Christmas.

Christmas Park Street

This probably would send most parents today into a panic. A 6 month old baby reaching for a Christmas ornament that could smash into a million tiny pieces. What is wrong with these parents?!? This was also the time before child safety seat laws and six months after they started putting child proof caps on medicine bottles. I turned out fine. This picture was taken at my grandparents house on Park Street in South Paris.

Christmas Uncle Jim

Here I am sitting on the shoulders of my uncle Jim Parsons. He had the name long before the dude from Big Bang Theory. You may have actually been in this room believe it or not. This was my great grandfather's house in Casco which today is the home to Blacksmith's Winery. If you've ever been in their tasting room, you were standing where this photo was taken in 1971.

See the two windows in the background. Here's what they look like today.

Jeff Christmas Bethel 2

I was a happy kid. I'm not sure what happened. My mom wondered that too when I got older. This was taken at my grandparents home on Elm Street in Bethel where my mom grew up.

Another picture in Bethel on a different day. We drove from South Paris to Bethel a lot to visit. I have no idea what's going on here, but something has my wide-eyed attention.

And this is a photo at my home on Nichols Street in South Paris from Christmas of 1973. I was 2 and a half here and my dad was a high school teacher at Oxford Hills, but before that worked at the local Texaco station in South Paris, hence the free or hugely dicounted Texaco station and U-Haul truck. Last minute shopping maybe? If you're from the area, the Texaco station is Northeast Bank on Main Street today.
