Once Not Allowed in the Theater. Now This Movie is Just for Them

Have you ever heard of "Sensory Friendly Films?" I hadn't until I saw this post from Cinemagic Movie Theaters announcing an upcoming viewing of The Lego Movie. This is a genius idea!

This program was designed for children with autism. The lights are turned on, the volume is turned down and the kids are encouraged to get up, dance, walk around and interact with the movie their watching. Until 2007 when a parent requested this type of experience, children with attention disorders have been unable to attend a "normal" movie going experience without the concern of disrupting other movie goers. They are allowed to bring their own gluten-free and dairy-free snacks from home into the theater and the shows start promptly at 10 a.m. with no previews. Why didn't I think of that?! There are a few upcoming Sensory Friendly Films coming up in our area (South Portland,Merrimack,PortsmouthandSalisbury) thanks to Cinemagic Movie Theaters.
