Portland Police arrested a 15-year-old Portland High School student on Thursday after the student made threats to bring a gun to school.

According to a press release, school administration notified the School Resource Officer about the threats. A search of the student's bag revealed a pellet gun that could have easily been mistaken for a real handgun. The student was arrested and later released to the custody of his parents.

No specific threats to the school, students or staff were made, but the student could be charged with terrorizing. The Portland School Department may also take disciplinary actions.

As always, the names of juveniles who commit a crime are not released.
