The Portland Police made a video of Lt. Glen McGary throwing a cup of hot water into the freezing air and it poofs into a cloud of vapor before it hits the ground. Now it's gone national!

The video showed up on the ABC News Weather Facebook page and the network’s “Good Morning America” Facebook page.

They made the video at the police station on Middle St. The water turns into a cloud that hangs in the air, with only a little landing on the ground. The coolest thing is that it was shot in slow motion.

This only works, by the way, in super cold weather...and lucky us! We had it. Tuesday we broke a 59-year-old record droppign to 11 below!

“That was the first time either of us had done it,” McGary said. “We didn’t even have a test run. I was very surprised. It created quite the cloud.”

The video really took off with over 415,000 views in just two days! McGary says they did it to connect with the community.
