Almost 80 groups participated in the 30th Pride Parade. It was gorgeous weather and a really fun time!

WGME 13's Craig Miller WAS back as the MC for the event. He does a great job explaining who is on the route and giving a little background for each of the 77 groups that marched from Monument Square to Deering Oaks.

It always (tradition) starts with Dykes on Bikes. That is not a slam, that's the name of their group. Then the craziest float, Wild Burritos and Burgers ALWAYS goes nuts (so to speak) with their float. I'm pretty sure they were actually tossing out...BURRITOS! And then the parade ends with everyone helping to carry the Southern Maine Pride's River of Pride 900 foot rainbow flag! It's the best way to end the parade!

One of those holding the flag (everyone was invited to help carry it) was Lu. Lu is a friend of mine and wanted my help to propose to her girlfriend Theresa.

So, as I saw them approach, I grabbed the mic and viola! I actually stopped the parade for just a bit while Lu got down on one knee and proposed. Theresa said yes, and the crowd went wild! The best part? It's legal! Congratulations Lu and Theresa and thank you for having me be part of it. Video courtesy of Community Television Network.

And thank you to the Pride committee for having me back as a judge - I get the best seat in the house!
