Many of the early cell phones were considered to be “car phones,” as they were too large and cumbersome to carry around in a pocket or purse. Then, in 1983, the  DynaTAC 8000x by Motorola landed on the market. It was considered the first truly mobile phone because it was small enough to carry, but still huge by today's standards. Also, it was about $4,000!!

No doubt about it, phones have come along way since then. We've seen them get smaller and smarter.

Now watch these teens using flip phones for the first time. Notice how horrified they are that there is no camera, or no space bar, and having to press the 5 three times to get the letter "L"
